Minneapolis Wordmark
"The Twin Cities."
The objective of this project was to create a wordmark for the city of Minneapolis, Minnesota. In order to complete this project, I had to figure out how to visualize this city through the use of primarily type and very limited visual imagery.
The wordmark consists of two important elements: the spoon illustration and a custom typeface. Each of these elements allowed me to portray the city of Minneapolis.
The spoon illustration is based on the famous and recognizable Spoonbridge and Cherry sculpture found in the city. The custom typeface represents the Sky Bridges found throughout the city. These bridges span 11 miles and the wordmark contains 11 letters.
